In a quest to allay the fear of the elites and residents of Ere and Ilahun, home and abroad, who felt Hon. Oluwole Oke had abandoned the communities over the collapsed bridge,a bold move was initiated.
Hon. Wole Oke, member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, the political jurisdiction of the communities, deploys a team of experts, structural, civil, and water engineers, and QS to inspect the site.
The team inspected the site yesterday, Saturday, 18th January, 2025. The report is being expected for us to make an informed decision.
The inspection, accompanied by a team of civil engineers and builders, aims to assess repair costs ahead of the rainy season. “The need for a motorable road is critical for our farmers to transport their produce to market,” stated Hon. Oke.
Hon. Oluwole Oke has promised to liaise with the Osun State Government under the able leadership of HE Sen. Ademola Adeleke to see how the bridge can be fixed without further delay.
We understand the volumes of demands towards the state government for interventions across the state. All hands must be on deck to support the Governor’s massive efforts. We are going to liaise with the state government under the able leadership of his Excellency Asiwaju Nurudeen Ademola Jackson Adeleke to see to this bridge, Oke assures.
Please accept our apology; it is not in our attitude to shy away from exigencies like this. Roads are critical components of infrastructure that determine the economic and commercial life of communities and their people. When mobility is halted, progress becomes impossible, Oke amplified.
We were kept believing that immediate succour and intervention were underway, leaning on the strength of commitment and news release made by the Obokun State Constituency Assembly Member, Hon. Adeyemi Adewunmi Irekandu, who doubles as a professional architect and an adept member of the construction industry. He promised then that the road would be fixed without any delay.
This actually put our intentional move on the wait as the road falls under the state exclusive list, and since the parliamentarian who represents the communities at the state parliament had taken a bold step at making an informed position.
But with the present situation of things and difficulties being experienced by our people, farmers, and commuters, coupled with the distorted accusations being levelled against my office, I have resolved to reach out to the state, liaise, and use every opportunity within my purview to ensure that the bridge is fixed and becomes usable even if it is temporarily.
The need to have a motorable road for our farmers to take their produce to the market cannot be negotiated, Oke reemphasises.
“This bridge is crucial for the livelihoods of Ere and Ilahun residents,” Honourable Oke stated.
“I deeply regret the inconvenience caused and assure you that we are now prioritizing its repair. No effort will be spared in ensuring this essential infrastructure is restored.”,Mp Oke apologised.

He assures the communities that he would provide further updates as the project progresses.
